Saturday Tutoring


Warm Up - (20 minutes)
Students will participate in a math fluency program called “Xtra-Math”

The Xtra-Math program is for practice and practice only. This program ranges from one to two digit math problems for addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division.

Lesson: (45 minutes)
Students will be split up into groups based on their grade level. A curriculum lesson will be followed.


To provide tutoring services for certified mentees of the “Men Making Moves” mentoring program. Back 2 School Academy will service students of grades (K-12) with an emphasis of Math, Reading, Technology, and also Life Science. Back 2 School Academy will also prepare students for Georgia’s standardized testing (GA Milestones) by following a scheduled curriculum.

Equipment: Books, Paper, Pencil, Dry-Erase Markers, Dry Erase Boards, Chromebooks, Tablets, and etc.

Meet:  1st & 3rd Saturday Each Month During School Year: 10am-12pm

Our Saturday Tutoring Program provides free academic help for our family of MMM students on Saturday mornings during the school year.

The main goals of The Saturday Tutoring Program are to:

  • Help students pass any district or state required standardized tests; improve their grades, and deepen their understanding of school subjects

  • Create a small-group learning environment where caring adult volunteer’s help students build their self-esteem and realize the value of education and community involvement

  • To be able provide each student that enroll into our program with a computer, which will allow them to continue to learn and study at home.


Warm Up - (25 minutes)
Students will start off by researching current events of their choice with the use of chromebooks. The categories can range from (News, Entertainment, Sports, Politics or etc.)

Using a think-pair-share model, students will then share new findings amongst themselves.

Pre Assessments:
With the use of Fountas & Pinnell Leveled Literacy Intervention, students will be tested and placed in small groups according to their reading levels. (Time TBD)

Silent Reading - (25 minutes)

Our program goals for each student:

  • Improved academic performance (usually defined through grades or standard test scores)
  • Improved feelings of scholastic competence and confidence
  • Improved relations with peers, teachers, and other school personnel
  • Increased attendance and class participation
  • Improved homework completion
  • Reductions in classroom disruptions, fighting and other negative school behavior
  • Increased exploration of, or acceptance to, secondary education opportunities
  • Improved career exploration
